The speedometer/Tachometer cables we supply are made in house by
Timeless Motorcycles and are made to Smiths original specification.
This is vital to avoid damage to your instrument. In recent years many imported cables have too long an inner cable which puts pressure on the instrument mechanism resulting in premature failure. Our fitment guide library ensures we can supply the correct cable for the year of your machine for both speedometer and rev counter / tachometer application. If you are unsure of your cable length or disagree with the fitment guide please measure the outer cable length to ensure we supply the correct cable. In most cases there are only two types of cable fitting at the speedometer clock end. Short nut or long nut. Chronometric instruments fitted to 1964 had the short nut fitting whilst magnetic instruments fitted from late 1964 had the long nut fitting. The smaller 60m/m speedo which are of the magnetic type used from the mid 1950s also had a cable change and clock design change in late 1964.

New Chronometric instruments made after 1964 mainly for police use had an extended neck at the bottom of the threads like the magnetic type. This type of instrument takes a very special cable which we can supply in any length to order. Fitting the incorrect cable will result in serious instrument damage. We can in most cases supply the early type Jaeger shaft driven chronometric cables in two forms. i.e. original type metal outer casing, rubber covered or our own budget type made from modern materials then rubber covered as above.
